α  alpha

Alpha is the origination and technical validation phase, where core intellectual property is defined, feasibility is tested, and the initial use-case is stress-tested against real clinical or market needs. At this stage, the focus is on proving that the science or engineering works outside of theory, while shaping an early regulatory and clinical pathway. Capital is typically pre-seed or grant-led, with emphasis on de-risking the concept rather than scaling it.

β  beta

Beta is the structured development phase, where the innovation is translated into a functional product with early user validation and defined commercial positioning. This stage prioritises prototyping, pilot studies, initial regulatory engagement, and building a repeatable development framework that aligns with reimbursement and healthcare system requirements. Funding begins to shift toward seed or early venture capital, as the project demonstrates credible pathways to market entry.

 χ chi

Chi is the clinical and regulatory execution phase, where the product undergoes formal validation through trials, certifications, and system integration within target healthcare environments. The emphasis is on generating robust clinical evidence, securing regulatory approvals (e.g. MHRA/EMA pathways), and aligning with payer and provider economics. Capital requirements increase significantly, typically involving institutional investors, as risk transitions from technical uncertainty to execution and adoption.

  σ sigma

Sigma is the scale and exit phase, where the company moves into full commercial deployment, international expansion, and revenue optimisation. At this stage, the focus is on distribution, partnerships, manufacturing scale, and demonstrating predictable financial performance aligned with investor expectations. Strategic outcomes such as acquisition, IPO, or large-scale private equity investment become viable as the business reaches maturity and market traction.
